Chalice Reports Nightfall During BetBoom vs Xtreme Gaming at Elite League

The world of Dota 2 esports witnessed a lively moment during a recent Elite League match between BetBoom and Xtreme Gaming on 6th April 2024, when Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko’s decision-making on the battlefield was marked as questionable and mocked by some Chinese players.

As Nightfall from BetBoom Team approached the enemy high ground wielding the Aegis of the Immortal, anticipation was high. However, Xtreme Gaming seized a crucial window of opportunity just as the Aegis neared expiration, leading to Nightfall’s unexpected demise.

Former Azure Ray player Yang “Chalice” Shenyi, watching the match’s livestream with Lu “Somnus” Yao, humorously referred to Nightfall as an “actor,” sparking intrigue and amusement among viewers.

Chalice Reports Nightfall for Being an “Actor” During an Official Dota 2 Match

In a recent Elite League match between BetBoom and Xtreme Gaming, Dota 2 player Chalice made a lighthearted comment regarding Nightfall’s gameplay decisions during a critical moment.

Nightfall, who plays for BetBoom Team, was pushing the high ground with the Aegis of the Immortal, and had no fear of dying. Xtreme Gaming seized the opportunity to engage just as the Aegis was about to expire.

Surprisingly, Nightfall chose not to activate his Black King Bar (BKB), a defensive item that could have potentially saved him. Unfortunately, Nightfall was caught off guard and perished just one second after the Aegis expired.

Chalice, who was watching the game’s live stream, remarked humorously that Nightfall was an “actor”, and proceeded to report him in-game. Dota 2 does not allow spectators to report players so Chalice went to Nightfall’s profile and reported his profile.

For those unaware of the meaning behind the word “Actor”, it refers to a player who might appear to be playing seriously but is suspected of intentionally making questionable decisions, potentially for reasons related to gambling interests or external benefits.

It’s important to note that Chalice’s comment was likely made in jest and not intended as a serious accusation. Banter and playful remarks are common among esports players and commentators as evident from a previous incident when Xtreme Gaming’s Wang “Ame” Chunyu reported Luke “Yamsun” Wang from nouns .

Ame reported Yamsun by stating Yamsun was “Impersonating a professional,” however, that he was only joking and it was not a dig at Yamsun.

Similarly, it is possible that Chalice was only joking about Nightfall’s decision during the match could simply have been a miscalculation or a strategic choice that didn’t pay off.
